Ivins, UT - Tuacahn's 2005 Broadway in the Desert theatre season featuring Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Joseph. is coming to a close this month on October 15th. "We have already exceeded any previous year in sales and we still have three weeks to go says Kevin Smith, Tuacahn's Chief Operating Officer. "Get tickets now or there may not be any seats left." Smith attributes the success of the season to a "terrific cast and crew" and the popularity of this year's show choices.
Following Tuacahn's theatre season, Odyssey Dance Theatre will present THRILLER in the Tuacahn Amphitheatre on October 17th & 18th. THRILLER is Odyssey's spooky Halloween spectacular which combines technical aspects of dance while paying homage to the stars of All Hallows' Eve.
Throughout the two-hour program, THRILLER highlights all the heroes of the season, including Frankenstein's monster and his bride, skeletons, mummies, werewolves, chucky dolls, Jason, and Freddy Krueger to name a few. But among the ghouls, there are unlikely heroes of Halloween, such as the knife-savvy Lorena Bobbitt and the "Giggle Girl."
A highlight of the show is the costuming. In "Curse of the Mummy" dancers peep through eye holes, as body-wrapped hip-hop mummies, and then cleverly transform into authentic Egyptian maidens. Other numbers include "Jason Jam," "Chucky-Rama" and "River of Blood Dance" (a play on "Riverdance").
Tickets to THRILLER presented on Monday and Tuesday, October 17 & 18, 2005 can be purchased at the Tuacahn Box Office for $17.50. Showtime is 8:00 PM. For more information about Tuacahn events or to purchase tickets on line visit Tuacahn's web site at www.tuacahn.org.
